Harry and Meghan representatives dismiss apology reports as 'nonsense'

Representatives for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have dismissed reports the couple were planning an apology to the royal family as "nonsense".
The denial was given to HELLO!'s royal editor Emily Nash and published on 8 October HELLO!. It responds to rumours of a planned reconciliation with the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine.
HELLO! headlined its report "Prince Harry and Meghan's royal apology plans dismissed as 'nonsense': 'It shows how bad the situation is'". It said Nash took up the claim on that week's episode of A Right Royal Podcast, the magazine's regular royal discussion show.
According to HELLO!'s account, the Daily Express had claimed Harry and Meghan hoped to apologise to William and Catherine over their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. That interview was the high-profile American television sit-down in which the couple spoke openly about life as working royals and their decision to step back. The Express report claimed they now saw that interview as their "biggest regret" and wanted a "sit-down apology" with William and Catherine.
Nash was direct on the podcast. She covers the royals for HELLO! and was speaking as the journalist who had asked the couple's representatives for a response. She said the idea that Harry and Meghan were going to apologise and reconcile with William and Catherine "is just not true". The answer was blunt.
The alleged apology centred on what was said in that Oprah interview about "concerns and conversations" over the skin colour of the couple's son, Prince Archie. That claim was first aired in 2021. It has remained one of the most sensitive and widely discussed parts of the rift between the Sussexes and the rest of the family.
HELLO! also reported on where things stand during Harry's time back in Britain. It said he has not reunited with his father, King Charles, or his elder brother, Prince William, since returning to the UK. It said he is not in contact with Prince William.
What makes this stand out is how fast the story turned. One report talked of regret and a family sit-down. Then came a one-word rebuttal from the couple's own side.
For anyone following the royal story from afar, the picture is simple. There is a rumour about sorry and healing. There is also a firm denial sitting right beside it.
