Ben Affleck knocked on doors in Los Angeles and asked residents to vote for him for mayor while staying in character as Mark Kimball, his role in the Netflix film Animals Deadline.

Affleck plays Kimball, a longshot candidate for mayor of Los Angeles whose campaign is short of money Deadline. He co-writes, directs and stars in the film, which was co-written with Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray Deadline.

He described the street-level preparation during an appearance on Good Morning America. The run was not real. “Do not vote for me for mayor!” Affleck said, to make clear that voters should not add him as a write-in choice, a name written on a ballot paper that is not printed there Deadline. He also said plainly that he is not running for mayor of Los Angeles in real life ABC News.

In character, he introduced himself as “I’m Mark Kimball” and asked people for their vote Yahoo. He also asked residents what they wanted to change about Los Angeles, in conversations organised as part of his research for the part Yahoo.

The story follows Kimball after his son is kidnapped USA Today. Steven Yeun plays his campaign manager, and Kerry Washington plays Abigail, Kimball’s wife Deadline. The film is described as a thriller, a story built around tension and danger ABC News.

For viewers, this means the campaign posters and handshakes were part of the acting work. The candidate was fictional. The research was real.
