Rachel Stockman is the new chief executive of Law & Crime, the parent company of Court TV.

Stockman replaces company founder Dan Abrams in the top job, as reported by Deadline. The appointment was also reported by The Hollywood Reporter. She will lead Law & Crime and Court TV together.

Abrams is stepping down as chief executive but he is not leaving the organisation. He will remain as chairman, a board-level role that sits above day-to-day management. Abrams is also chief legal analyst for ABC News.

Stockman is a long-term insider. She has worked at Law & Crime for more than a decade. She started as editor-in-chief, in charge of editorial coverage, before promotion to president, a senior management role. That path kept her close to both the newsroom and the business.

She oversaw the launch of Partners in Crime. That is a programming initiative built around six original series. The slate sits alongside the company’s live trial streams and legal coverage. New series mean new presenting roles and production jobs.

The group is set up across several outlets. It operates four FAST channels, meaning free channels supported by advertising, plus multiple subscription channels on YouTube. Its operations include Law & Crime Productions, the Law & Crime Network and LawAndCrime.com.

Ownership has changed in recent years. Jellysmack has owned Law & Crime since 2023. Earlier this year, Law & Crime bought Court TV from E.W. Scripps. That deal brought two court-focused brands under one owner.

The leadership change follows another business step. In September, Law & Crime signed with WME for representation in all areas, as reported by Yahoo. Representation of that kind means an agency handles deals across television, digital and other work.

What makes this stand out is continuity. Stockman helped shape the editorial operation from inside. Now she takes charge of the wider business. For viewers, that points to the same trial coverage and series, under a new chief executive.
