Jac Schaeffer to Develop New Stargate Series for Amazon

Stargate is heading back to television, with Jac Schaeffer developing a new series for Amazon MGM Studios. Variety reported the news exclusively on 9 October 2026, citing sources. Schaeffer is the creator of WandaVision and Agatha All Along.
The project falls under Schaeffer's overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios, meaning the studio backs her to develop new programmes for its service. That agreement is a three-year deal, according to The Popverse. It gives Stargate a defined home for development. It also gives Schaeffer a direct route to pitch and build shows inside the studio.
Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures will executive produce alongside Schaeffer, Variety reported. Executive producers guide a series creatively and manage its production. Harold and Tunnell are attached as part of the core team at this early stage.
A writers' room is expected to open in the near future, Variety reported. A writers' room is the small group of writers that breaks stories and maps out episodes. Its opening is often the first visible sign that work on a season has begun. No episodes have been ordered.
This is not Amazon's first attempt at the property. Variety reported that an earlier television project developed by Martin Gero did not move forward. That leaves this version as the live one inside the studio. There is no confirmed cast, episode count or release date.
For viewers, this means patience is still needed. Development is the earliest step. A full series order, meaning a formal green light to make episodes, has not been announced.
