Mike Flanagan says he wishes he could make a Jaws movie

Mike Flanagan wishes he could direct a Jaws film.
The horror writer-director named the shark series and Jurassic, the dinosaur series, as dream jobs during a Reddit Ask Me Anything, an open question session where users post questions for a guest. He said a Jurassic film “could be a blast” if he could make it properly frightening as a true dinosaur horror film, according to Deadline.
Neither project is in the works. They are wishes, not announcements.
The session was hosted through Prime Video to promote Carrie, Flanagan’s forthcoming television adaptation, according to Dread Central. Readers asked which big franchises he would like to tackle.
Flanagan said he spent much of his career thinking he would not do franchises or sequels. That position has shifted. He explained that he has changed his mind as new opportunities have come up.
He is now working on an Exorcist film, with Scarlett Johansson attached to star. He also has Carrie on the way for television.
For fans, this means two familiar monsters are on his mind. Jaws is the killer-shark story. Jurassic is the cloned-dinosaur story. Flanagan’s pitch is simple. Keep the teeth. Raise the fear.
There is no studio deal behind either idea. For now they sit on the wish list alongside his confirmed horror slate.
