Two in three Netflix members surveyed around the world want to visit South Korea.

The figure is 67%, from Netflix research shared in Busan on Oct. 10. Sung Q Lee, the company's senior director of APAC production, presented it during the opening masterclass of Creative Asia, according to Variety.

Place follows story. Lee said the pull of South Korea lies in the stories set there, rather than the scenery alone.

The session looked at how locations shape storytelling. It was moderated by James Bang, a professor at the Busan Asian Film School, and also featured location manager Lauren Cooper and Kunieda Reiko, co-producer of Perfect Days.

Lee pointed to the Jeju-set series When Life Gives You Tangerines. He said universal emotions can connect audiences to places they have never been.

The talk opened this year's Creative Asia. Netflix runs the programme with the 31st Busan International Film Festival, for a third consecutive year.

The event was held at Dongseo University's Centum Campus. It was developed with the Asian Film Commissions Network and the Motion Picture Association, the US studio trade body.

This year's edition added workshops led by Netflix executives alongside masterclasses and industry panels. The focus is practical: how crews find places, film in them and build them into the plot.

For viewers, this means the holiday snap and the TV location are getting closer. A drama set on an island can put that island on a travel list.

No new series order or travel deal was announced in the session. The news was the number itself, and what Lee said sits behind it: people visit the story first.
