Cappu Films has taken on worldwide sales for Ephemera, the queer romance written and directed by Shan Jiang, and will shop the film to buyers at the Asian Contents & Film Market attached to the Busan International Film Festival, Variety reported on 11 October.

The mandate covers all territories. That means Cappu will seek distributors country by country and region by region. It is the standard next step for a festival premiere looking for releases beyond its launch.

Ephemera had its world premiere in the U.S. narrative competition at the Tribeca Festival, the section for new American fiction features. Tribeca had listed the film as a United States-Singapore production when it unveiled its 2026 line-up, Tribeca said. The 2026 festival ran from 3 to 12 June, and Tribeca later included Ephemera in its 2026 LGBTQIA+ Festival Watch Guide.

The film stars Yvonne Shuyu Zhang and Shu-Yi. It is Jiang's debut feature. Jiang also produced alongside Yinx Zhou and Sol Ye, with Jane Zheng and Alex Steyermark credited as executive producers, the senior backers who support a production without running the day-to-day shoot.

The connection between the filmmakers and Cappu was brokered by ArtChais Technology Co., Ltd. No distributors or release dates have been announced.

For audiences outside the festival circuit, this means Ephemera now has a team working to place it on screens. The Busan market is where buyers shop for completed films and upcoming titles from Asia and beyond. A worldwide sales deal does not guarantee a cinema release in every country, but it is the step that makes those releases possible.
