Artemis Fowl animated series ordered at Disney Channel and Disney+

Artemis Fowl is returning to the screen as an animated series for Disney Channel and Disney+.
Author Eoin Colfer announced the greenlight, the industry term for an official order to production, during the “25 Years of Artemis Fowl” panel at New York Comic-Con. He delivered the news himself to the room. The announcement was reported by Deadline on 11 October 2026.
The order spans two homes at once. It places the series on Disney Channel, the linear network watched on television, and on Disney+, the subscription streaming service watched on demand. Animation means characters are drawn and voiced rather than filmed in live action. For viewers, that means the show is intended to be available in both places rather than in one alone.
Colfer will serve as an executive producer, a senior role that oversees a series creatively from scripts through to the finished episodes. He shares that credit with Ben Juwono and Colleen Evanson. No episode count, casting or premiere date was included in the announcement.
The new show draws on a publishing run that began in 2001, when the first Artemis Fowl book launched. Since then the series has travelled widely in print. According to Eoin Colfer’s official site, more than 25 million copies have been sold around the world, with translations into 40 languages. The same site notes that readers voted Artemis Fowl the public’s favourite Puffin Classic of all time.
The screen news arrives in an anniversary year for the books. Disney Books is marking 25 years of the first novel with two fresh printings built for different shelves. The 25th Anniversary Edition is a paperback that revives the original gold and holographic cover, finished with new stained edges. The Deluxe Collector’s Edition is presented as a keepsake, with stained edges, a marker ribbon and a foiled slipcase.
What makes this stand out is the double offer. One part looks forward to a production now under way. The other looks back at a book that started a quarter of a century ago. For fans, this means a new adaptation to track and anniversary editions to pick up while production continues. A launch date for the series has not yet been announced.
