Huddersfield Giants have brought England centre Erin Stott home for the 2027 season, BBC Sport reported on 12 October.

Stott is 23. She plays at centre, the midfield strike role outside the halves where footwork, timing and tackling in open field shape so many attacks. She has already earned England honours in women's rugby league, the 13-a-side code played with six tackles to make ground before the ball hands over.

She knows Huddersfield well. Stott started her rugby league career with the Giants before moving to St Helens ahead of the 2023 campaign. That early switch took a young hometown player into one of the strongest squads in the women's game.

It brought trophies. With Saints she won the Women's Challenge Cup, the sport's national knockout competition, and the League Leaders' Shield, the prize given to the club that finishes top of the regular-season table. Those are the two clear markers of consistency and cup nerve. She earned both before stepping away.

Stott took a break from rugby league in 2025. That pause matters here. This is not a straight transfer from one season to the next. It is a return to the sport as well as a return to her first club.

For fans, this means something familiar. They remember her from the start of her journey. She remembers the place. That connection can help a player settle fast after time out.

At 23, she still has plenty of rugby ahead of her. Centres often hit their best years in their mid-20s, when reading of the game catches up with pace. Huddersfield will hope the year away has left her fresh rather than rusty.

The 2027 season is the next step. Details of pre-season and fixtures will follow in due course. For now, the Giants have secured an experienced international back who started with them, learned how to win elsewhere, and has chosen to come back.
