Former Fox executive accuses network of ignoring Guilfoyle scandal — then it publishes

A former Fox News digital chief accused his old network of deliberately ignoring a scandal involving one of its former hosts.
Ken LaCorte posted at 3:21 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 11, that Fox News had published no online coverage of the story around Kimberly Guilfoyle. He called the gap “journalistic malpractice” and “a conscious choice to ignore a major story,” according to Variety.
LaCorte said Fox had “0 reporting online” on the matter. He said the most recent article on FoxNews.com that even mentioned Guilfoyle was dated Dec. 10, 2024.
The underlying story broke on Oct. 7, when the Wall Street Journal reported that Guilfoyle had asked a donor to Donald Trump for $100,000 she said she owed to American Express in a way that would not leave a paper trail. That report raised questions about misconduct and a donor bailout.
Guilfoyle is now the Trump-linked ambassador to Greece, as described by The Daily Beast. She worked at Fox News from 2006 to 2018. She is the former fiancee of Donald Trump Jr. and the ex-wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Less than four hours after LaCorte’s post, FoxNews.com published its first online story on the matter. The article appeared at 6:55 p.m. ET on Sunday with the headline “Trump and Rubio weigh firing Kimberly Guilfoyle as misconduct and donor bailout allegations mount.” Fox News had mentioned the Guilfoyle story in on-air programming but had not covered it online until that piece.
LaCorte later noted the update. “Good to see Fox has now gotten around to it...” he posted.
The Fox News article reported that Guilfoyle may soon be fired amid reports she sought a six-figure credit card bailout from a Trump donor. The account that Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were considering firing her was attributed to the Associated Press, as noted by Yahoo. Rubio is the U.S. Secretary of State.
The article remains listed in Fox News’s HTML sitemap for Oct. 12, 2026, confirming its place in the site’s online archive.
LaCorte is a former senior vice president of Fox News Digital. He left Fox News in 2016 after working there for two decades.
What makes this stand out is the timeline. A public complaint about a missing website article was followed within hours by that article appearing. For viewers, the difference matters. A mention on television passes quickly. A published online story can be found, read in full, searched and shared.
