Michael Jordan's 'Last Dance' Jersey Sells for Record $14M

A red Chicago Bulls jersey Michael Jordan wore in the 1998 NBA Finals has sold for $14 million.
Hunt Auctions, based in Pennsylvania, announced the private sale on Monday. The buyer is Miami real estate investor Ron Firman, The Guardian reported.
Jordan wore the jersey in Game 2 against the Utah Jazz in Chicago. The Bulls won that night to tie the championship series at one game apiece. The NBA Finals is a best-of-seven series for the league title.
Chicago went on to win the series in six games. It was the sixth championship of Jordan's career with the Bulls, and his last.
The jersey has a short ownership history. It was first bought directly from the Bulls by a private collector in 2003. It had changed hands only once since then before this sale.
Hunt Auctions said the $14 million price is the most ever paid for a piece of basketball memorabilia. It is also the second-most expensive game-worn jersey known in any sport, behind only the $24.12 million paid in 2024 for Babe Ruth's 1932 World Series jersey.
Jordan's 1998 Finals jerseys keep climbing. A jersey from Game 1 of that same series sold at auction for about $10.1 million in 2022. A jersey from Game 3 sold for about $12.3 million about a month before this latest deal.
Even his shoes from that run draw big money. In 2023, Sotheby's sold a pair of Air Jordans he wore in Game 2 against Utah for $2.2 million.
That 1997-98 Bulls season became famous again with The Last Dance. The documentary series about Jordan and Chicago's final title run was a hit on Netflix in 2020.
What makes this stand out is the timing. Nearly 30 years later, one red jersey from one June night can still stop the sports world. For fans, this means the Last Dance era is now the gold standard for collectors too.
