Netflix has released the first trailer for The Body, its eight-part high-school horror series due on 11 November.

The news was reported by Deadline on 12 October. An eight-part series, meaning the story plays out across eight episodes, will launch on the streaming service. The show comes from creator Quinn Shephard. It is set in the early 2000s.

The story centres on a group of badly behaved Catholic school girls, as described by Netflix Tudum. The focus is a dance team. The team auditions three new girls for its squad. That process pulls outsiders into a close and competitive group.

Then an initiation goes wrong. That night changes everything. The girls begin having prophetic visions, meaning flashes that appear to foretell what comes next. Netflix outlined that turn in its preview of young-adult titles.

Sofia Wylie leads the ensemble as Grace. Geena Meszaros plays Lisbeth, Sara Boustany plays Elise and Shirley Chen plays Maddie. The three newcomers join the established squad. Gabby Windey plays Coach Miller, the adult overseeing the team.

Shephard writes and directs the series. Netflix lists the project as a coming-of-age drama, meaning a story centred on growing up, with horror built around it. Shephard has called it her 'most personal' story, according to Netflix Tudum. She re-teamed with Riley Keough for the project.

First-look photos, meaning official stills shared before launch, were released in August. The trailer follows about two months later. Trailers of this kind give viewers a first sense of tone and characters without giving away the plot.

The rollout follows a familiar pattern. Stills first. Trailer next. Full season after. The gap between the August photos and the October trailer was about two months. The gap from trailer to premiere is about four weeks.

What makes this stand out is the mix. School hierarchies. Dance-team pressure. Visions that blur what is real. For younger viewers especially, that combination is familiar ground with a darker edge.

For fans, this means the countdown is clear. The date, setting, cast and premise have all been confirmed in advance. The trailer now offers the clearest look yet before the November arrival. Date locked. Cast confirmed. Premise set. The eight episodes arrive on Netflix on 11 November.
