Arc Raiders drew 185,443 concurrent players on Steam after its Frozen Trail update, its highest simultaneous-player total since March. The figure was reported on 12 October, days after the update went live. Eurogamer

The jump is sharp. Before Frozen Trail, the game’s usual daily peaks on Steam sat below 40,000. An earlier count put the first 24 hours of the update and free weekend at 131,388 players at once, before the total climbed higher. TechPowerUp

Frozen Trail, released on 8 October, upgrades the game to version 2.0. Developer Embark describes it as the game’s largest update since launch. It arrived alongside a free trial, with free play offered from 8 October to 12 October. Embark

The centrepiece is Pendola Pass, a snowy new map billed as the game’s largest addition of its kind. It brings new Arc enemy units to fight, plus a new player home called The Outpost. The update also includes a complete revamp of the skill tree, the menu system where players unlock and shape abilities.

There is more for returning players to work through. Frozen Trail introduces the Reward Pass, a new progression track, alongside five new outfits and other new gameplay items. It also adds weapon upgrades and a new massive ARC Operation, a large-scale event built around the game’s robotic enemies.

Embark is also selling a Frozen Trail Collector Set on Steam. Separately, the studio will test a dedicated PvE mode from 13 to 20 October. PvE, or player-versus-environment, means facing computer-controlled enemies rather than other players.

What makes this stand out is the breadth. New ground to explore, a home base to build around, and a reworked way to progress give both lapsed players and newcomers a clear reason to log in together.
