Deezer to let listeners hide fully AI-made music from search

Deezer will let listeners hide fully AI-generated music from search results, with a global rollout due before the end of 2026.
The streaming service announced the on/off toggle on 13 October, under chief executive Alexis Lanternier Music Business Worldwide. With the filter switched on, fully AI-generated tracks, albums and their related artists will not appear in searches.
Users can turn it back off at any time.
The company links the option to listener demand. A Deezer-commissioned Ipsos survey found 45% of music streaming users would like to filter out 100% AI-generated music. A separate blind test of 9,000 people across eight countries found 97% could not tell fully AI-generated music apart from human-made music.
Scale explains the pressure. Deezer said it now receives nearly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks every day. That is up from 10,000 a day when it launched its detection tool in January 2025.
The climb has been fast. In April 2026 the intake was almost 75,000 a day. The latest figure is nearly 90,000 a day. On peak days, fully AI-generated tracks now account for more than 50% of all new music delivered to Deezer.
Between January 2025 and August 2026, the service detected more than 42 million AI-generated tracks. It has tagged more than 14 million albums as AI-generated, a label applied so listeners can see how a recording was made.
Search is the next step in controls already in place. Deezer already removes tracks detected as fully AI-generated from algorithmic recommendations, the automatic mixes built from listening habits. It keeps them out of editorial playlists, the collections assembled by its programming teams.
It also excludes manipulated streams, plays boosted by fraud to earn money unfairly, from royalty payments, the pool of money shared with rights holders. Fully AI-generated tracks generate only 1% to 3% of streams on Deezer. The company said up to 85% of those streams in 2025 were fraudulent.
Earlier figures give context. In April 2026, Deezer reported that AI-generated tracks made up 44% of new uploads Deezer Newsroom. In June, it launched a free detector tool that users of major streaming platforms can use to check a track Reuters. Deezer describes itself as the only streaming platform tagging AI-generated music.
For fans, this means choice rather than removal. The music stays on the service. It simply stays out of sight for listeners who switch the filter on.
