Reinaldo Marcus Green has launched Office Hours, a new filmmaker fellowship at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, the New York school where he studied, as reported by Deadline. The scheme runs across the academic year and puts emerging directors in direct contact with Green. The announcement was published on 13 October 2026.

The inaugural class numbers five. Alex Jiang, Maissa Lihedheb, Skyla Page, Andre Shen and Taylor Sanghyun Lee were named as the first fellows, according to Deadline. All five come from inside Tisch's graduate film programme, either as recent alumni or current students.

Office Hours was built around access. It offers mentorship and candid conversation about the creative and professional realities of sustaining a career in film. A fellowship here means structured time and guidance, not a cash prize. Fellows will gather with Green for intimate sessions throughout the year, a chance to ask practical questions away from a set or press line.

Selection was handled by a small committee. It included director Kasi Lemmons, editor and Tisch arts professor John Tintori, and Tisch administrators Chiara Bernasconi and Mia Cioffi Henry. The group blends working filmmakers with school staff.

Two of the fellows arrive with public credits already outlined. Jiang is a Hong Kong-born, New York-based filmmaker and MFA candidate at Tisch. MFA stands for Master of Fine Arts, a postgraduate degree centred on creative practice. Lihedheb is a German-Tunisian filmmaker whose work has screened at Tribeca, BFI London, Palm Springs ShortFest and El Gouna.

Green knows the route. He is a New York native who works as a writer, director and producer. As a Tisch graduate student, he and fellow filmmaker Jonas Carpignano were named finalists for a San Francisco Film Society / Kenneth Rainin Foundation honour. His first feature, Monsters and Men, then won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Outstanding First Feature, as listed by NYU Tisch. He went on to direct King Richard, as announced by NYU Tisch.

What makes this stand out is scale. Five filmmakers. One working director. Time to talk through craft and career without a crowd. It is small by design.
