Netflix reveals first trailer for Greta Gerwig's Narnia film The Magician's Nephew

Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for "The Magician's Nephew", Greta Gerwig's film based on C.S. Lewis's "The Chronicles of Narnia", on Tuesday, Variety reports.
The story starts with two children, Digory and Polly. They discover a place called the Wood between the Worlds. That is where they find Narnia.
Young actors David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell lead the film as the pair. Daniel Craig plays Andrew Ketterley, the magician of the title, while Emma Mackey plays Jadis, the last Queen of Charn and the future White Witch. Meryl Streep voices Aslan, the mythical lion, in a cast that also includes Carey Mulligan and Ciarán Hinds, according to Variety.
The trailer is scored to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven". The song plays over first glimpses of the Wood, the children and the older characters around them.
Netflix showed the footage first to press and influencers at New York's AMC Lincoln Square. Gerwig discussed the film there in an interview with Stephen Colbert.
The film will open in cinemas on Feb. 12, 2027. It will then arrive on Netflix on April 2, a gap known in the industry as the theatrical window. That cinema run is Netflix's first global theatrical release, meaning a coordinated release in cinemas around the world, Variety reports.
It will also play in IMAX, the giant-screen format, as part of that wide release, according to Netflix. It is Gerwig's first feature since 2023's "Barbie".
What makes this stand out for viewers is the route to the screen. Netflix films usually play briefly in selected cinemas, if at all. This time the Narnia story gets a full worldwide cinema outing first.
