Quentin Tarantino to bring Once Upon a Time in Hollywood back to Chinese Theatre for AFI Fest

Quentin Tarantino will appear in conversation at AFI Fest for a special screening of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the American Film Institute announced on October 13.
The event takes place on Friday, October 23 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, as reported by Deadline. It pairs the on-stage discussion with a full screening of Tarantino's 2019 film. The date was also confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
The venue holds history for the film. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood held its world premiere, its first public screening, at the same theatre. The AFI Fest night brings it back to the room where audiences first saw it.
The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. It follows an actor and his stunt double in Los Angeles at the end of the 1960s. It has grossed $409.4 million in US dollars at the global box office, according to Deadline.
Awards voters noticed. The film received 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Directing and Original Screenplay. Pitt won the Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance as stuntman Cliff Booth.
That character is coming back to screens. Pitt will play Booth again in The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, directed by David Fincher from a script by Tarantino. The new film will play in Imax theatres, the large-screen cinema format, for two weeks from November 25 before streaming on Netflix from December 23.
The Tarantino event sits near the centre of this year's festival. The 40th AFI Fest, the American Film Institute's annual film festival, runs October 21-25 in Hollywood. This year's programme includes 158 films.
For fans, this means past and next chapter in close view. The October 23 screening revisits Booth's first appearance. A month later, the same character returns in a new story made for Imax cinemas and streaming.
