Paramount Pictures and developer Rick Caruso will reopen the Bay Theater in Pacific Palisades before the end of 2026, as reported by Deadline on 13 October.

The plan brings back a five-screen cinema in Palisades Village. That is five separate auditoriums under one roof, giving the site room to mix new releases with older titles.

The cinema sits at 1035 N. Swarthmore Ave. in Palisades Village, according to Deadline. It has been shut since the Palisades Fire in early January 2025. The shopping and dining district around it, owned by Caruso, reopened in summer 2026.

Luxury cinema operator The Lot will manage the venue. Paramount is taking over a site formerly run by Netflix, and by Cinepolis before that, Deadline reported.

The programme will include first-run movies, meaning new releases in their opening weeks, alongside classics, special screenings and immersive theatrical experiences. Those experiences are shows built around live or interactive elements rather than a standard screening.

The Bay name has a long history in the area. The original Bay Theater opened on Sunset Boulevard in 1949 and closed in 1978. The current iteration in Palisades Village debuted in 2018.

What makes this stand out for local audiences is the mix of comfort and choice. Palisades Village brands the project as “Bay Theater by Paramount” and lists luxury seating with in-theater dining on its coming soon page. The same village listings promise family programming and favourite classic films shown in 35mm, the traditional film-print format.
