Orion Dates Kim Jee-woon's The Hole for Summer 2027

Orion Pictures will release The Hole in cinemas on 25 June 2027.
The date was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, which puts the film in the heart of the summer corridor. Orion is the specialty label of Amazon MGM Studios, the division focused on smaller, director-led releases.
The film is directed by Kim Jee-woon. It stars Theo James, Hoyeon, Yeom Hye-ran and Christian Slater.
The story centres on Owen, played by James, an American professor living in South Korea. After his wife dies in a car accident, he is cared for by his Korean mother-in-law. She begins to uncover secrets about his marriage and his past.
The action moves between Seoul and Berkeley, California. Two cities. Two sides of a life split apart.
The script is by Christopher Chen. It adapts the 2016 best-selling Korean-language novel of the same name by Hye-young Pyun.
Behind the camera, the producers are Anthology Studios, K. Period Media and Esmail Corp. Department M and Medan are financing the film and serving as executive producers, a role that usually means putting up money and overseeing the production at a distance.
Orion holds worldwide rights to the film, meaning it controls cinema and later distribution around the globe. The company picked up those rights in a multi-million-dollar deal, as reported by Yahoo News.
What makes this stand out is the mix. A Korean story told in English and Korean, a veteran genre director, and a cast drawn from Hollywood, Korean cinema and prestige television. Audiences will have to wait a little over a year and a half to see how it plays on the big screen.
