Feyi-Waboso on track for England's Australia opener after hamstring scare

England have had an early lift ahead of next month's Test season. Wing Manny Feyi-Waboso is on track to be fit to face Australia despite a hamstring scare with his club.
The 23-year-old tweaked a hamstring playing for Exeter Chiefs in their win over Newcastle. Initial scans have not shown major damage, The Guardian reported on 14 October.
Exeter are still expected to be without him for their opening Champions Cup pool fixture, Europe's top club competition, away at Toulouse. That absence is precautionary. The bigger target is international duty.
England open their Nations Championship campaign — the new global Test competition — against Australia on Sunday 8 November at 15:10 at Allianz Stadium, according to England Rugby. Keeping Feyi-Waboso available for that date matters.
He plays on the wing, the wide attacking role tasked with finishing chances. He has done that job well. He has scored nine tries, rugby's five-point scores, for England since debuting in the 2024 Six Nations.
Fitness has been a stop-start story for him. He missed much of 2025 with a shoulder injury that required surgery and then missed the 2026 Six Nations with a hamstring problem. Exeter sent him for a scan after the Newcastle game, BBC Sport reported.
For fans, this means relief rather than celebration. England keep one of their sharpest runners in the frame. Exeter, led by director of rugby Rob Baxter, must plan without him for one of the toughest away trips in club rugby.
