Apple will open pre-orders for iPhone Duo at 5:00 a.m. PT on October 16, which is 8:00 a.m. ET the same day. Retail availability follows on October 23. Apple Engadget

The window opens two days after October 14. It sets a fixed date for in-store pickup and the start of deliveries.

To handle early demand, Apple launched Get Ready for iPhone Duo purchases. Starting October 12, shoppers can select a model in the Apple Online Store or the Apple Store app. They enter a payment method and shipping address in advance, and Apple places the order when the window opens. Engadget

That takes payment and address entry out of the live checkout, much like checking in early for a flight. The task becomes confirming the right configuration ahead of time.

iPhone Duo comes in Star White and Night Sky. Storage, the space for apps, photos and files, runs from 256GB to 2TB. No other finishes or capacities are listed in the current preorder materials.

Full price starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model and goes up to $3,199 for the 2TB model. Apple also lists iPhone Duo from $83.29 per month. Trading in an eligible iPhone can provide up to $885 in credit toward the purchase. Engadget Apple

Apple released iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27. Apple Intelligence and Siri AI in those releases work on iPhone Duo, iPhone Air, and iPhone 16. The Duo has current software support at launch, with no wait for a later update. Apple

Do not confuse this flow with a separate Apple guide titled "Get ready to experience iPhone 18 Pro, the new Apple Watch lineup and AirPods 5". That guide covers pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, the next Apple Watch models, and AirPods 5. Apple also published a September 2026 announcement titled "Apple unveils iPhone Duo". The names are similar, but they point to different hardware.

In my view, the focus is on cutting checkout friction rather than adding choice. Two colors, four likely storage steps between 256GB and 2TB, and a pre-staged order mean fewer variables at 5 a.m. PT. That is a practical answer to where high-demand launches tend to break, in payment approval, address checks, and timed-out sessions.

The broader context here is useful for anyone weighing the Duo as a work device. A $1,999 entry for 256GB, with up to $885 off for a trade-in, leaves a wide range for final cost based on fleet age and how long phones are kept. With the order set early and placed automatically, IT buyers and early adopters can spend launch week on setup, backup, and moving to iOS 27, which is what makes the new hardware usable sooner.
