LG has added DTS:X and Google Cast support to its Sound Suite home theater system. The additions, detailed by Engadget on Oct. 14, 2026, expand both decoding and direct streaming on LG's wireless home theater platform.

Both features land on the H7 soundbar, the central speaker in the Sound Suite setup. DTS:X is a surround format that places sounds around and above the listener, rather than only in fixed left and right channels. Google Cast lets you send music and podcasts straight to the system, without using the TV interface or a separate streamer. LG had said Cast for the H7 would arrive after June 2026. The October report says it is now in place.

The update also widens setup options. Sound Suite now supports two W7 subwoofers in the same system, for users who want more bass output across a room. On the network side, LG added 6 GHz Wi-Fi and 5 GHz DFS channels, essentially extra radio lanes, for the wireless links between components.

LG also teased a Media Connect Hub for DTS:X devices that is still in development. The hub will bring DTS:X in from compatible external source devices. That step is needed because the H7 has no HDMI input, according to LG's Sound Suite FAQ, so players and game consoles cannot connect directly to the bar. The hub is not yet shipping.

LG describes Sound Suite as a premium spatial audio system built around flexible placement of soundbars, speakers and subwoofers. The company notes that some features require a third-party subscription or account, a routine caveat for Cast-enabled hardware.

The broader context here is the shift to fully wireless surround that relies on the home router instead of HDMI cables. That makes spectrum access and channel choice part of everyday performance, not just a setup detail. Support for 6 GHz and DFS gives installers more ways to avoid congestion in dense apartment buildings, though stability will still depend on router behavior, wall attenuation and competing traffic.

Looking at what this means for buyers, decoding and input flexibility are now on separate tracks. H7 owners get native DTS:X and direct Cast streaming today, plus the option to add a second W7. DTS:X from external sources waits for the Media Connect Hub. For a platform sold on placement freedom, that hub is the logical next step, and it will shape whether Sound Suite feels like a primary living-room system rather than a streaming-first complement to the TV.
