DOC NYC Names 2026 Short List With Holmes Doc and DuVernay's 14th

DOC NYC has revealed its 2026 Short List for features and shorts, putting an Elizabeth Holmes epic and a new film from Ava DuVernay into the awards-season conversation.
The announcement came on Wednesday, 14 October, as reported by Deadline. A short list, in festival terms, is a narrowed selection of titles tipped as contenders for wider prizes.
Among the features named are American Doctor, directed by Poh Si Teng, and NAZA, directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor. Also selected is You Can See Everything, about Elizabeth Holmes, directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim.
The features list also includes 14th from Ava DuVernay, To Hold a Mountain from Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić, and Once Upon a Time in Harlem from David Greaves. All six titles were confirmed in the same festival announcement.
You Can See Everything runs nearly three hours, according to ABC News. It has early traction elsewhere too, having appeared alongside Musk on the 2026 Critics Choice Documentary Awards nominations list, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The wider festival is large. Its 2026 main slate includes 115 feature-length documentaries, with 26 world premieres and 27 U.S. premieres, as reported by Variety. The Short List: Features selection committee is overseen by Artistic Director Jaie Laplante and Director of Special Projects Thom Powers.
DOC NYC 2026 runs in person 11-19 November at IFC Center, SVA Theatre and Village East by Angelika in New York City, then continues online through 29 November. Tickets are already on sale. The festival organisation says its schedule is up and tickets are available on its site, DOC NYC.
What makes this stand out is timing. DOC NYC's 15-film features shortlist has a history of including documentaries that go on to earn Oscar nominations and/or wins, as noted by Variety. For fans, this means the November screenings are a chance to catch the conversation early.
