Cocktails at the Rosetta Stone: Net-a-porter and Erdem dine at the British Museum

Fashion guests sipped cocktails around the Rosetta Stone before sitting down to dinner among ancient statues at the British Museum in London.
Net-a-porter, the online luxury retailer, and Erdem, the London fashion house, hosted the evening event on a Tuesday, with a private viewing of the Bayeux Tapestry for guests, according to WWD.
Dinner was cooked by London's River Café and served in the Nereid Gallery. Ruth Rogers is chef patron of the restaurant. Her food was eaten beneath stone figures. Cocktails came first, in the Egyptian sculpture gallery.
The hosts brought fashion and museum worlds together. Heather Kaminetsy is chief executive officer of Net-a-porter. Erdem Moralioglu, the designer behind Erdem, is a trustee of the British Museum. Nicholas Cullinan is director of the British Museum and attended the dinner.
The guest list mixed actors and models. Dinner guests included Adwoa Aboah, Ruth Wilson, Rashida Jones and Hayley Atwell.
Then came the tapestry. The work is 230 feet long and tells the story of the Norman Conquest in 1066. It is on loan from the French Ministry of Culture. The display runs until July, when the tapestry will return to its museum in Normandy, France.
It is a rare loan. The British Museum lists the exhibition as running from September 2026 to July 2027, with the next ticket release on 21 October 2026, according to the British Museum.
What makes this stand out is the setting. Few dinners start with a 2,000-year-old stone and end with a 1,000-year-old cloth. For guests, it was a night out with history on both sides of the table.
