East Fife have sacked manager Dick Campbell after eight League One games without a victory.

The decision was confirmed on 14 October, with the Fifers sitting seventh in Scotland's third tier after one win from their first 10 matches, according to BBC Sport. Cup form did not help his case. East Fife failed to progress in the KDM Evolution Trophy and then lost 2-1 away to Cumbernauld Colts to go out of the Challenge Cup.

That defeat stung. Cumbernauld Colts play in the Lowland League, two divisions below East Fife.

Campbell, 72, took charge at New Bayview in February 2024. He led the club to promotion through the play-offs in 2025, a knockout mini-tournament for teams finishing just below the automatic promotion places. It was the seventh promotion of his long career.

He is one of Scottish football's most familiar faces. Campbell had long spells in charge of Arbroath and Forfar Athletic, and also managed Dunfermline Athletic, Brechin City, Partick Thistle and Ross County.

His brother Ian Campbell, along with Stuart Malcolm and John Young, have also left the club. All three were part of the backroom team.

For fans, this means a sharp change of mood. Five months ago Campbell was the man who took East Fife up. Now the board have decided that one win in 10 was too little to carry on.

There was also movement at Dumbarton. Danny Lennon will take charge on an interim basis following the departure of Frank McKeown.

Lennon stepped into the dugout from the boardroom. He became director of football at Dumbarton in September. He previously managed St Mirren and Clyde, but failed to win in eight games in charge of Airdrieonians in the Championship last season.

Dumbarton are sixth in League Two, Scotland's fourth tier. They also went out of the KDM Evolution Trophy after a 4-0 defeat at Clydebank.
