PSG hit three first-half goals at Man City as Haaland hits back twice

Paris Saint-Germain scored three unanswered goals in the first half against Manchester City in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium on 14 October 2026.
Erling Haaland scored twice for City in response. The game was a league-stage tie, the opening phase where 36 clubs sit in one big table and chase a place in the knockouts, according to The Guardian.
Desire Doue gave PSG the lead. Fabian Ruiz played the final pass for the opener. About 75 seconds later Ousmane Dembele made it 2-0.
That is how fast it happened. Two goals in little more than a minute. City were stunned before they could reset.
PSG added a third before the break to complete a ruthless first-half spell. Haaland then hit back with two goals for the home side to drag City back into the night.
There was an edge before a ball was kicked. City supporters booed the UEFA anthem. Kick-off was 20:00 in England, 21:00 in France, at the Etihad, according to Paris Saint-Germain.
In goal for City was Gianluigi Donnarumma. He faced PSG, his former club. That gave the evening an extra layer for both sets of fans.
PSG were led by manager Luis Enrique. His starting XI included seven players named on the 30-strong Ballon d'Or shortlist, the annual list to find the world's best player. Joao Neves and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, both also on that shortlist, were among the substitutes.
It was the eighth Champions League meeting between the clubs. PSG arrived in Manchester as champions of Europe for the second season running in 2025/26, according to UEFA.
The history between them is lively. It includes PSG's 4-2 win over City in Paris in January 2025, reported by Reuters.
What makes this stand out is the contrast. PSG's depth of talent told in that first-half burst. City, backed by a home crowd and Haaland's finishing, refused to let the night drift.
