Theatre Student Neha Bora Emerges as Face of India's Gen Z Protests

Neha Bora has emerged as one of the most recognisable faces of India's recent Gen Z-led protests, according to BBC.
Bora is 29 years old, Reuters reported. She is a doctoral student in theater studies, The New York Times reported. She rallied Gen Z protesters with boundless energy, street theatrics and satirical humor during a police crackdown, The New York Times reported.
Bora is the National President of the All India Students' Association, The New York Times reported. She emerged during protests over exam leaks and jobs, Reuters reported. She has been detained repeatedly, which raised her public profile.
She was detained by police during a protest in New Delhi. She was held at the Maidan Garhi detention centre in Delhi, The Hindu reported. Before a protest, she evaded pre-protest detention by being shifted from her residence three days prior, with her phone switched off and kept elsewhere, Frontline reported.
While being detained, she urged protesters to "hold the line," The Hindu reported. She was detained in a Delhi protest demanding the removal of Gyanesh Kumar. At a protest described as a CEC protest, where she was detained, she said "every corner becomes Jantar Mantar," The Hindu reported.
