Ten of 12 Georgia voters who supported Joe Biden in 2020 and Donald Trump in 2024 said they regretted voting for Trump in 2024. The responses came in two online focus groups that NPR observed on a Tuesday night, with the findings published Oct. 15, 2026. NPR

Eleven of the 12 participants said they were disappointed with Trump's job performance as president. Seven of the 12 said Trump would influence them to vote for Democrats in the midterms. NPR

That was the first time in 2026 that a majority of voters in the monthly focus-group series said Trump would affect their midterm choices. The series holds monthly sessions with swing voters in battleground states. NPR

The sessions are run by Engagious and Nelson Recruiting in partnership with NPR as part of the Swing Voter Project. Rich Thau, the president of Engagious, moderates the discussions. NPR

In April, NPR observed Georgia focus groups centered on Trump's handling of the war with Iran. Participants in those groups expressed broad displeasure with his handling of the conflict, saying the war was going poorly and that Trump was mishandling it. NPR

In those April groups, 9 of 13 participants said they were "very likely" to vote in the November midterms. Most participants at the time said they were undecided about which party they would support. NPR

Georgia will hold a special election to replace Marjorie Taylor Greene, with a Trump-backed candidate set to face a Democrat. The contest is seen as a test of Trump's sway in the state's most conservative district. Reuters
