The Royal Marines have only ever received 10 Victoria Crosses. The original medals have never been seen together before, having been kept in secure storage away from public view.

They will go on permanent display in the new £15m Royal Marines Experience at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The attraction, which covers 360 years of marines' history, is due to open on 24 October 2026 and will present hundreds of historic and modern items. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

The medals span more than a century of service. Sgt Norman Augustus Finch, born in 1890, served onboard HMS Vindictive and was awarded his cross for actions during the Zeebrugge Raid on 23 April 1918. Lance Corporal Walter Richard Parker served as a stretcher bearer during the Gallipoli campaign in May 1915.
