Plex Adds Fandango Cinema Ticket Buying in US

Plex has teamed up with Fandango so viewers in the United States can find showtimes and buy cinema tickets while they browse and watch films.
The partnership was first reported as an exclusive scoop by Deadline. It applies to Plex users in the US. No extra app is needed to start the search.
Here is how it works. A Fandango ticketing option now appears on Plex title pages for films that are currently playing in cinemas. Users click through to Fandango to check local showtimes and complete the purchase. The idea is simple. See a film. Book a seat.
The integration also includes direct attribution through Kochava, a measurement firm that tracks whether an advert or link led to a sale. In practice, that means Plex and Fandango can see which ticket purchases came from Plex browsing.
Plex was founded in 2011 and now operates in more than 180 countries, according to Deadline. The company reports more than 42 million monthly active users, meaning people who use the service at least once a month. It also says more than 45 million users create watchlists, the personal lists viewers save for films they want to see later.
For fans, this means less hopping between apps. A watchlist title that is still in cinemas can point straight to tickets instead of a separate search for times and prices.
