Nandy minded to intervene in Sky's £1.6bn ITV deal

UK Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said she is "minded to intervene" in Sky's £1.6bn deal to buy ITV's broadcasting and streaming business. Sky is owned by the US company Comcast, and the deal would create the UK's biggest commercial broadcaster. The Guardian
The phrase means Nandy is leaning toward ordering a formal review but has not yet done so. The companies have five days to respond to her notice before she makes a decision.
If she decides to intervene, Ofcom, the communications regulator, and the Competition and Markets Authority, the competition watchdog, would carry out formal investigations into the deal. The Guardian
Nandy pointed to public interest considerations. She listed the free expression of opinion, plurality of views, plurality of control of media enterprises, and the availability of high-quality broadcasting that appeals to a wide variety of tastes and interests.
