Hulu has ordered crime drama Durango to series, with Cooper Hoffman and Kathryn Newton in the lead roles. The decision, reported by Deadline on 15 October 2026, moves the show beyond its pilot, meaning a single trial episode made to test an idea. A series order means a full season will now go ahead.

Hoffman plays Mikey, a ski bum townie chasing a buzz. Newton plays Bunny, a homeschooled runaway working as a waitress in a greasy-spoon diner. Put together, it is a crime-ridden whirlwind romance between a waitress and a snowboarder, as The Playlist described the setup when Newton joined the pilot in June.

Three more actors will join them. Merritt Wever, Mason Gooding and Abbey Lee have all been cast in Durango. Their roles have not been detailed in the announcements so far. The additions fill out the ensemble around the two central runaways.

Eliza Clark wrote Durango and created the project for Hulu as a crime drama. Clark was previously showrunner, meaning the writer in charge of a series, on Y: The Last Man. Chris Storer has joined the production as an executive producer. He sits alongside Clark, Michael Ellenberg, Christina Malach, Josh Senior and Tyson Bidner in that role.

Jesse Peretz directed the pilot and is also an executive producer. The series is organised as a co-production between 20th Television and Media Res. Both companies are behind the show. That pairing brings together a major studio and an independent production company.

Durango travelled the standard pilot route. Cooper Hoffman was first set as the lead of the pilot in May 2026. Kathryn Newton came aboard the next month. Filming on the pilot had wrapped by September 2026, when Newton discussed the shoot in an interview reported by Deadline. The October order is the green light that turns that pilot into an ongoing show.

For fans, this means patience now. A series order starts a longer build. Writers return. Sets go back up. A crew of more than a hundred people can come back for months of work. And a story that lived in one episode gets room to continue, with Bunny and Mikey at the centre.
