My Chemical Romance sign worldwide publishing deal with Warner Chappell

My Chemical Romance have signed an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music. The agreement was announced on Thursday, 15 October and covers the band's full catalogue and all future works.
Warner Chappell, the publishing arm of Warner Music Group, will handle global administration for the songs, according to the announcement reported by Music Business Worldwide. That work includes collecting royalties around the world, protecting copyrights and managing sync licensing, the paid use of music in film, television and video games.
The deal extends a long business relationship. The band's link with Warner Records began in 2003, and the group also has a global merchandise partnership through Warner Music Group. Warner Music Group is led by chief executive Robert Kyncl, while Warner Chappell is led by chair and chief executive Guy Moot.
My Chemical Romance were formed in New Jersey by Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Frank Iero and Mikey Way. They announced a split in 2013 and reunited in 2019.
Their catalogue spans four studio albums: I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, The Black Parade and Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Publishing administration, the business at the centre of this deal, sits apart from recordings. It looks after the underlying songs and the payments due to writers when those songs are played, performed or placed.
Scale is part of the story. Warner Chappell reported that the band has generated tens of billions of global streams. The count runs into the tens of billions.
For fans, this means less visible change than a tour or a record. The same songs remain in place. The difference is behind the scenes, with one publisher now responsible for clearing permissions and chasing payments worldwide, including for new music if and when it arrives.
