Bluesky Expands Attie From Custom Feeds to Websites, Games and Polls

Bluesky announced on October 15, 2026 at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 that its AI-powered Attie app will let creators build websites, quizzes, games, polls and other interactive experiences.

CEO Toni Schneider shared the plan during an on-stage interview at Disrupt. He called it "social vibe coding" or "vibe coding for your community" TechCrunch. Anything made with Attie will run on atproto, the AT Protocol system that powers Bluesky itself.

Attie keeps creators tied to their atproto identity, their portable account across AT Protocol apps. It will suggest things to build based on a user's public Bluesky profile. Users can bring their own AI model or use open-weight options, models whose weights are openly available to run and adapt. Bluesky COO Rose Wang said sites and games built with Attie can use Bluesky's existing audience for distribution. Bluesky reported 47 million registered users on October 15, 2026.

This builds on what Attie started as. Bluesky introduced Attie in late March 2026 at the Atmosphere conference as an agentic app, software that can carry out multi-step tasks from a prompt, for "vibe coding" custom feeds, or describing the feed you want in plain language and letting AI assemble it. At launch, Attie helped people build custom feeds for the open AT Protocol social network, including a page of accounts worth following based on a topic the user supplied. Feeds made with Attie could be built and viewed in Attie, with a plan to make them available later inside Bluesky or any other ATProto app.

Even at that March launch, Bluesky said Attie would eventually let users "vibe-code" their own app TechCrunch. The October expansion puts that plan into effect, moving from feed generation to broader interactive pieces that still carry social identity and distribution.

One protocol limit shapes the timing. AT Protocol support for private data was in alpha testing, or early outside testing, as of October 15, 2026, with rollout planned by the end of 2026. Until then, Attie quizzes, games and polls that need per-user state, scores, or gated content will depend on what is public on atproto.

The leadership is now in place. Schneider had led Bluesky on an interim basis after former CEO Jay Graber stepped down in March 2026 to become chief innovation officer, news Graber announced on March 9, 2026. Schneider, a former CEO of Automattic and a partner at True Ventures, was named permanent CEO on July 10, 2026. Other context includes $100 million in Series B funding in April 2025 led by Bain Capital Crypto, growth from 25 million to 41 million users in 2025 and from 13 million to over 43 million since its Series A as of March 19, 2026, plus partnerships with three AT Protocol blogging platforms, Offprint, Leaflet and pckt.blog, and a Find Friends contact-import feature added December 16, 2025.

The broader context here is that turning text into a website is now common. The change is the pairing of generation, identity and distribution in one place. A creator can describe a poll or small game, have it linked to an atproto account, and publish it where a social network already exists instead of hosting it separately and searching for readers.

In my view, that lowers the cost of trying new things enough that community managers, moderators and niche publishers will test ideas they would never have ordered as software projects. It also brings a tradeoff to watch, since bringing your own model plus open-weight options gives control over inference latency, cost and data handling, or how fast, expensive and private the AI work is, but it pushes moderation and abuse handling toward individual apps and the protocol's developing private-data tools. If that balance holds, Attie points toward a more programmable social network where the feed was only the first thing users learned to generate.
