U.S. President Donald Trump has ruled out using a nuclear weapon against Iran.

He made the remarks in an interview with Newsmax. "I wouldn't use nuclear. We don't have to. We're the greatest nuclear power in the world," he said. Al Jazeera

Trump said the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb (MOAB), nicknamed the "mother of all bombs," "is not nuclear." He declined to say whether he had authorised its use against Iran.

His comments came after CNN reported on new U.S. strike options that included possible use of the MOAB against Iranian targets. The U.S. military has developed new strike plans that include potentially using the weapon against Iran. CNBC

Trump declined to rule out using the "Mother of All Bombs" on Iran after the U.S. midterm elections. Bloomberg On October 8, he said the United States will not attack Iran before the November midterm elections. Reuters

Trump told Newsmax he did not foresee putting U.S. troops on the ground in Iran. "No, I don't see that, I don't see it," he said.

Trump has maintained for decades that Iran will never be permitted to obtain a nuclear weapon. Since taking office, he has stated no fewer than a dozen times that Iran cannot be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.
