Mathew Baynton, Jack Holden and Melanie La Barrie are among seven actors joining Tim Crouch's An Oak Tree in London.

The production is running at The Other Palace until 15 November 2026, with Crouch appearing opposite a different guest actor at every performance, according to WhatsOnStage.

The hook is simple. The guest walks on stage without having read or rehearsed the play. No rehearsal. No script in advance.

Sid Sagar is first of the newly announced names to perform, on 17 October. Caitlin FitzGerald follows on 22 October, with Melanie La Barrie on 24 October.

Phoebe Campbell performs on 27 October, followed by Mathew Baynton on 28 October. Jack Holden takes the guest role on 11 November, with Khalid Abdalla on 13 November.

An Oak Tree was first staged in 2005 and is built around that meeting between Crouch and his guest. Crouch plays a stage hypnotist. The guest plays a father who has lost his daughter.

What makes this stand out is the jeopardy. Each night is different because the guest is genuinely finding the story live, alongside the audience.

The run at The Other Palace continues into mid-November. Each performance brings a new pairing, and a new version of the same story.
