Celtic put a two-point lead on the line when Hearts visit on Sunday in a meeting of last season's top two in Scotland.

The champions sit top of the Scottish Premiership, two clear of Rangers in second and five clear of third-placed Hearts, according to BBC Sport. The game kicks off at 15:00 on Sunday 18 October, as listed by SPFL.

It is also a meeting of Scotland's two remaining clubs in Europe. Both come into it with tired legs after continental ties in midweek.

Celtic won away at Motherwell on Sunday 11 October to retake top spot. Then came a sharp check in the Europa League, Europe's second-tier club competition, with a 4-1 defeat to Benfica on Thursday 15 October.

Domestic form still points to Celtic. They have won 14 of their past 15 league games. They have scored at least twice in 11 of those 15, a run that has kept the scoreboard busy.

Hearts arrive hard to beat. They have only one defeat in their last 13 games in all competitions. They conceded a late equaliser in a home draw with Nordsjaelland in their Conference League opener, Europe's third-tier tournament.

Their away league record is less comforting. Hearts have won only twice in their past 11 away league games and kept no clean sheets in that run. Yet they have won twice in their last six visits to Celtic Park, so this trip will hold no fear.

There is recent history here too. Celtic sealed last season's title with victory over Hearts on the final day, after the sides had finished as the top two.

Rangers will be watching closely. They beat Kilmarnock on Saturday 10 October to hit the top for a night. Celtic won at Motherwell the next day to move back ahead.

Rangers are on a seven-game winning streak. They are unbeaten in four Premiership away games this season, winning the latest three. They travel to face Dundee after four Premiership games kick off at 15:00 BST on Saturday 17 October.

History favours the visitors there. Rangers have not lost to Dundee in 20 meetings since a 2-1 defeat in November 2017.

What makes this stand out is the squeeze at the top. Celtic keep scoring. Rangers keep winning. Hearts keep hanging in. One weekend can tilt the mood in Glasgow and Edinburgh at once.
