Met Police Investigate Row Over Founding of Your Party

London's Metropolitan Police is carrying out a criminal investigation into a row over the founding of Your Party.
A police spokesperson said the inquiry was opened after a report received in September 2025 relating to alleged unauthorised access to a political party's database, as reported by Politico The Guardian. The spokesperson did not name the party. "The investigation continues," the spokesperson said.
Officers arrested a man on suspicion of an offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990, the law that covers unauthorised access to computer material. He was released pending further inquiries and has not been charged. Police also interviewed a woman in her 30s under caution in connection with the same investigation.
Neither the man arrested nor the woman interviewed are members of parliament, and neither has been charged with an offence. Neither Jeremy Corbyn nor Zarah Sultana were accused of wrongdoing, according to Politico.
Your Party was founded in summer 2025 by Corbyn and Sultana, who sit as Your Party MPs in the House of Commons. In September 2025, Sultana revealed a new membership portal on X and encouraged members to become paying members for £55.
Corbyn described that site as a "false membership system" and told supporters to ignore an email requesting funds. In January, the Information Commissioner's Office advised Your Party it was taking no further action over the launch of the membership portal, but said it may have involved "serious criminal activity" and should be referred to the police.
A Your Party spokesperson said it would not be appropriate to comment further about ongoing police investigations. The spokesperson also said the party's systems are secure and that the incident was isolated.
