Prince William admits spicy food makes him sweat ahead of Mumbai trip

The Prince of Wales says his spicy food intake is “pretty limited” because he starts sweating. He called the reaction “terrible” in an interview with BBC Asian Network published on 16 October 2026. HELLO! Magazine
Presenter Nikita Kanda warned William he would need to work on his tolerance before his trip to India. Mumbai will host the sixth annual Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony, the annual awards night for environmental projects, on 17 November. The city was announced as the 2026 host in February.
William said he is looking forward to the trip. He described the “vibe” in Mumbai and called it one of the most vibrant cities he has been to.
He has made the same confession before. Speaking on BBC Radio 1 in 2023, he said he cannot do too much spice because he starts sweating. He has also said that sweating from spicy food is not attractive.
That is familiar at home, too. Catherine, Princess of Wales, cooks mild curries for William because he gets too sweaty from hotter food, as he explained in 2023. People
William has form with Indian restaurants. In April 2023, during a royal visit, he helped out an Indian restaurant by picking up the phone and taking a booking from an unsuspecting caller. Reuters
For fans, this is easy to picture. A hot curry, a formal visit, and cameras everywhere. Sweat is no fun. Mumbai will put his tolerance to the test.
