Piano Backs Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Tilda Swinton Reunion

Piano, the Mexican production and distribution company behind Ruben Östlund's Palme d'Or winner Triangle of Sadness, has boarded Apichatpong Weerasethakul's Jengira's Magnificent Dream.
Producer Julio Chavezmontes confirmed Piano's involvement to Variety, which reported the news on 18 October 2026. Tilda Swinton is attached to star.
The film reunites Swinton with Apichatpong after Memoria. That earlier feature also starred Swinton. Piano was a co-producer on Memoria alongside Colombia's Burning, among others.
Jengira's Magnificent Dream centres on Jengira, a Thai widow. She travels to Sigiriya, the ancient rock forest in central Sri Lanka, to scatter her husband's ashes.
The cast is set. Jenjira Pongpas, Sakda Kaewbuadee and Canadian actor Connor Jessup join Swinton. The Fondazione Prada fund describes the central character as a Thai widow in her sixties.
Piano is known to festival audiences as a backer of bold international cinema. Its credits include Triangle of Sadness, which took the top prize at Cannes, the Cannes Film Festival's Palme d'Or. The company works across both production, putting money and services into films, and distribution, releasing them in cinemas.
Shooting was eyed for Sri Lanka. Earlier industry reporting pointed to filming there from February 2026, according to The Film Stage.
What makes this stand out is continuity. Swinton, Jenjira Pongpas and Sakda Kaewbuadee all travelled with Apichatpong on Memoria. Now Piano has travelled with them too, from one Swinton collaboration to the next.
