Jesse Eisenberg is preparing an untitled television series for A24, which he will write, direct and executive-produce, meaning he will lead the creative work and share business control.

No network or streamer is attached yet. The project is expected to be taken out to buyers in the coming weeks, meaning A24 will shop it around to find a home, according to Deadline.

The story is based on a short story by Eisenberg about a young woman whose beliefs are challenged by new ideas and relationships. Eisenberg has described it as being about the beginning of the culture wars. It follows an 18-year-old girl in autumn 2002.

Peter Rice is attached as an executive producer under his deal with A24. Rice is the former Disney executive who has been named Chief Content Officer of Netflix, according to Deadline. He is scheduled to begin that role on 26 October, Yahoo reported, citing Netflix's announcement.

For fans, this means a return to TV creation for a performer better known in recent years for film. Eisenberg most recently starred in television in the 2022 FX limited series Fleishman Is In Trouble, a limited series meaning a show designed to tell one closed story. He made his screen debut as part of the main cast of Fox's 1999 comedy-drama Get Real. He previously developed a TV adaptation of his short-story collection Bream Gives Me Hiccups for Amazon and A24.

The new series also continues a busy run with A24. Eisenberg's latest film as writer-director is The Debut, starring Julianne Moore alongside Paul Giamatti. It is his third feature in that role, following When You Finish Saving the World and A Real Pain. A Real Pain was acquired by Searchlight following its Sundance Film Festival premiere, Variety reported.

A24 lists The Debut for release in theatres on 11 December 2026. Eisenberg had earlier said the film would launch at an autumn festival this year, Screen Daily reported in July.

Casting, episode count and a transmission slot for the TV project have not been disclosed. Those details will depend on which buyer picks it up.
