BMI has opened its newest office on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, Florida.

The ribbon was cut on Oct. 15, 2026. The launch gives the music rights organisation a physical presence in the Miami area for the first time, Billboard reported.

The office sits in Miami-Dade County. It is intended to serve music creators across South Florida, Puerto Rico and Latin America.

The opening-day celebration centred on a ribbon-cutting ceremony. It featured a live performance by Zulia, a Latin pop singer and songwriter, who was introduced by Billboard chief content officer Leila Cobo.

BMI acts as a performing rights organisation. That means it represents public performance rights, the licences required when songs are played on radio, on television, in venues or in businesses, and collects the resulting payments for writers and publishers. The organisation said it represents more than 25 million musical works by more than 1.5 million songwriters, composers and music publishers.

The company is led by chief executive officer Mike O'Neill. Its creative leadership includes chief revenue and creative officer Mike Steinberg and Jesus Gonzalez, vice president of creative, Latin.

BMI is headquartered in New York City. It also has offices in Los Angeles, Nashville, Atlanta, Austin and Washington, D.C., alongside an international location in London.

BMI marked the launch with an official press release titled "BMI Celebrates the Grand Opening of Its Coral Gables Office with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony," published at BMI.

For writers in the region, this means a local address. Instead of working with New York, Los Angeles or Nashville at a distance, creators in South Florida, Puerto Rico and Latin America now have a Coral Gables team in the same time zone.
