Hamilton turned a half-time deficit into a 2-1 win away at Airdrie on 17 October, while Clyde swept Annan aside 4-1 at home to headline the weekend in Scotland's lower leagues.

The best of the action is gathered in one place. The BBC has published a video titled 'Watch: Best of the weekend's SPFL action' on 19 October, covering the Scottish Championship, League 1 and League 2 BBC. Those are the second, third and fourth tiers of the men's game in Scotland, sitting below the Premiership. The video is available to UK users only.

Airdrie v Hamilton gave the round a proper away-day story. Hamilton trailed 1-0 at the break at the Albert Bartlett Stadium, then hit back to win 2-1 SPFL. It was a League One result with real momentum behind it. Hamilton go to East Fife next, on 24 October at 3pm.

Clyde were ruthless. They led Annan 1-0 at half-time at New Douglas Park before running out 4-1 winners in League Two SPFL. The crowd was listed at 625, with Abbie Hendry as referee. Clyde's form has a clear spearhead in Scott Williamson, listed by the SPFL as the division's top scorer with 12 goals.

Elsewhere in League Two, Kelty edged Forfar 2-1 in the October programme. Small margins. Big points.

There was noise from the top flight too. Celtic beat Heart of Midlothian 7-1 on 18 October, Aberdeen beat St Mirren 3-1 on 17 October, and Falkirk won 2-1 away at Hibernian on 17 October. Celtic sit top of the Premiership on 24 points from nine games, with a goal difference of 18.

In the Championship, the table is tight at the top. Stenhousemuir lead with 23 points from 10 games, ahead of Raith Rovers on 21 from 11 and Partick Thistle on 21 from 10. Partick have a quick chance to close the gap. They travel to Dunfermline Athletic on 20 October for a 7.45pm kick-off, then host Stenhousemuir on 24 October.

For fans, this means the weekend belonged to the chasers. Hamilton showed nerve. Clyde showed teeth. And with Partick facing the leaders twice in four days, the next chapter is already close.
