Gemma Sutton to lead Anything Goes at Mill at Sonning

Gemma Sutton will play Reno Sweeney opposite Josh St Clair as Billy Crocker in Anything Goes at the Mill at Sonning.

The Cole Porter musical will run from 19 November 2026 to 17 January 2027, closing the Berkshire venue’s 2026 season, according to casting announced on 19 October WhatsOnStage.

Sutton plays the nightclub singer. St Clair plays the stowaway. Their story sits inside a score that includes “I Get a Kick Out of You”, “You’re the Top” and the title song, “Anything Goes”.

The production uses the revised book by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman. The Mill at Sonning bills the show as the ultimate feel-good musical Mill at Sonning.

Lulu-Mae Pears will play Hope Harcourt, with Martin Allanson as Lord Evelyn Oakleigh and Elizabeth Elvin as Evangeline Harcourt. Chris Grahamson will play Moonface Martin, with Jessica Lim as Erma Latour and Jo Servi as Elisha Whitney.

Jon Bonner will play the Captain, with Rob Gathercole as the Purser and Kristian Jacobs as Minister Henry T Dobson. Sam Khadirian will play Spit, Lorenzo de Liso will play Dippy, and Pamela Blair and Tara Yasmin will play Angels in Reno’s act. Jamie Jonathan completes the company.

De Liso will make his professional debut in the show. Short line, big moment. A first job on a large ensemble musical is a fast education.

Joseph Pitcher will direct, with choreography by Gary Lloyd. Diego Pitarch is set designer and Natalie Titchener is costume designer, with Charlie Ingles as orchestrator, arranger and musical supervisor and Jemma Starling as musical director WhatsOnStage.

The Mill at Sonning operates as a theatre, restaurant and Waterwheel Bar venue. That means audiences can eat before the show in the same building.

For audiences planning ahead, this is the Christmas slot. Dinner, dancing and Porter standards. It is built for a full room.
