Nathan Fielder says Elizabeth Holmes called him from prison before film release

Elizabeth Holmes called Nathan Fielder from federal prison just before his documentary about her reached theatres, Fielder has revealed. He described the call in a WIRED interview published on 19 October, according to Variety.
He had not heard from her for months. The silence had lasted more than six months. Then the phone rang before release.
She ended the call with the words “I trust you”. She said it twice. Fielder said he did not know what Holmes meant by the remark, according to WIRED.
The film at the centre of the call is ‘You Can See Everything’. It was directed by Fielder and Lance Oppenheim and follows Holmes and her partner Billy Evans in their final weeks before Holmes began an 11-year prison sentence.
The film-makers moved in with Holmes and Evans 34 days before she went to prison. Holmes, the former chief executive of blood-testing company Theranos, is in federal prison after being convicted for fraud.
Fielder said he became involved after hearing that Holmes and Evans had tried and failed to pitch a documentary about themselves to A24. He then called A24 himself to ask for a meeting with Holmes.
That account appears in WIRED’s exclusive interview, titled “Nathan Fielder Tells Us Everything”, billed as a discussion of truth, lies and Theranos. The interview was published on 19 October.
The documentary is a nearly three-hour film, according to the Los Angeles Times. It was in theatres as of 16 October 2026. A24 has announced a theatre release in the U.K. and Ireland on 20 November, according to Yahoo.
In the film, Evans accepts the description of his work with Holmes as “Theranos 2.0”, according to WIRED. The original Theranos scandal was broken in 2015 by reporter John Carreyrou, according to The New York Times.
What makes this stand out is the access. A film-maker living in the house for a month before a prison sentence is rare. A call from prison just before release adds one more twist to that strange production history.
