Kany García opened Billboard Latin Music Week's run of Superstar Q&A sessions on Monday, Oct. 19, taking the stage at the Faena Theater in Miami Beach with her guitar in hand. Billboard

She brought her guitar. The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter used it to play short excerpts during a conversation billed as "The Stories Behind the Songs," focused on the experiences and creative process behind her catalogue.

The session was moderated by Leila Cobo, Billboard's co-chief content officer. It was the first in the week's Superstar Q&A slate, which brings artists together with interviewers for extended on-stage conversations.

García told stories behind several of her songs and performed snippets of three of them: "Hoy Ya Me Voy," "Te Lo Agradezco" and "A La Niña Que Fui." The format mixed talk with live playing, with García moving between explanation and short performances.

"Te Lo Agradezco" is her 2023 collaboration with Mexican singer Carín León. The song appeared on two Billboard charts, Regional Mexican Airplay, which tracks plays on regional Mexican radio stations, and Hot Latin Songs, which ranks Latin songs across formats in the United States.

"A La Niña Que Fui" comes from García's album Puerta Abierta. García played part of the track during the session as she discussed its writing.

What makes this stand out is the stripped-back set-up. No band, no staging beyond a chair and a guitar, and a focus on how the songs were built rather than what came after.

Billboard Latin Music Week ran Oct. 19-22 in Miami. The week closes with the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards, set to air live on Thursday, Oct. 22 from the James L. Knight Center in Miami via Telemundo and Peacock. Tickets for Latin Music Week 2026 were listed as on sale now on the event's official site.
