U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib has called for U.S. authorities to arrest the commander of an Israeli military unit believed responsible for the killing of five-year-old Hind Rajab in Gaza. Al Jazeera reported the demand on October 20, 2026.

Tlaib pointed to reports that Israeli soldier Sean Glass was present in the United States. In a post on October 19 from her @RepRashida account, she said the commander of the Israeli military unit likely responsible for killing Rajab is in the U.S. RepRashida on X

Tlaib said that as a party to the Genocide Convention and the Geneva Conventions, the U.S. government is obligated to arrest and investigate Glass. The conventions are international treaties addressing genocide and conduct in armed conflict.

The Hind Rajab Foundation said it filed an emergency request for the U.S. Department of Justice to arrest Glass. The group identified Glass as commander of the 'Vampire Empire' Company, which it said was implicated in the killing of Rajab, members of her family and medics sent to rescue them.

Rajab was five years old when she was killed on January 29, 2024. She died after pleading to medics for rescue. Reuters

Israel has admitted its troops killed Rajab in Gaza. Its military said it will open criminal investigations into the deaths of Rajab and 15 Palestinian paramedics in Gaza. AP
