Christopher Luxon and Chris Hipkins were scheduled to meet for a third and final leaders' debate on Stuff in the evening, with health expected to be a central topic. RNZ

Luxon said health will be a fixture of the final debate. Hipkins had challenged Luxon to a debate focused specifically on health, in a social media video released on Monday.

In calling for the health-focused debate, Hipkins said the health system is in crisis. Health ranked second on the Ipsos Issues Monitor, behind only the cost of living.

ACT leader David Seymour said he was willing to debate Hipkins on health if Luxon would not.
