Mother of complainant says she trusted Alan Jones before alleged farm assault

The mother of a man who accuses broadcaster Alan Jones of sexually assaulting him as a teenager told a Sydney court she "trusted" Jones and was "comfortable" with her son spending a weekend at his Fitzroy Falls property. Her evidence was heard on Tuesday at Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court, after her son spent more than a week in the witness box. The Guardian
Jones, 85, has pleaded not guilty to 21 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching. Five men allege Jones sexually touched them between 2003 and 2020. All five had finished giving evidence as the trial entered its 11th week.
The son, known in court as complainant A, testified that he was 17 and alone at Jones's Southern Highlands farm when Jones allegedly kissed him, put his tongue inside his mouth and touched him on the bottom. Of the alleged incident, he told the court: "I felt violated and I felt gross". The Guardian
The court heard Jones began corresponding with complainant A after the boy, then aged 13, asked Jones for help with his mother's "dire" financial problems. His mother said she was never invited to Jones's home. Her son had meals with Jones at a local pub and at his Circular Quay apartment and was invited to the home on multiple occasions.
The mother said her son returned from a two-night stay at Fitzroy Falls during the school holidays in a different mood and not sleeping. He told her he had broken a plate. Complainant A previously testified that Jones became "frustrated, annoyed and angry" when he dropped a $1,500 Versace plate.
Ten days after the stay, the son handed his mother a "scrawly" note saying he "felt violated at Fitzroy Falls about an incident of a sexual nature" and said he did not want to talk about it. She asked whether he wanted to report the alleged assault to police. He declined, saying it would be his word against that of a powerful man.
The mother testified Jones paid about $100,000 for repairs on her house. She said she gave her first statement to police in May 2024.
