Three of London's largest museums are handing over a whole street to South Asian art, music, dance and food next summer.

The Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington, the Science Museum in London and the Natural History Museum in London are partnering with Serendipity Arts to stage Serendipity Arts Festival London from 19 to 27 June 2027, The Art Newspaper reported.

The nine-day festival will take over Exhibition Road and South Kensington's cultural quarter. It will run in partnership with the Great Exhibition Road Festival led by Imperial College London. That sister festival is scheduled for 19 to 20 June 2027 as a weekend of free science and arts events, with hands-on workshops, talks and performances for all ages.

More venues are in. The Royal Albert Hall in London, the Royal Geographical Society in London, the Royal College of Art in London and the Royal College of Music in London will all take part. The programme spans visual art, music, dance, new media — work made with video, sound and digital tools — and food. It will feature established and emerging artists from India and its diaspora.

Six women will curate it. Veeranganakumari Solanki and Nancy Adajania will lead new media, Latika Gupta will lead visual arts, Preethi Athreya will lead dance, Sneha Khanwalkar will lead music and Elizabeth Yorke will lead culinary arts.

This is an import with history. Serendipity Arts launched its annual festival in Panaji, Goa, in India in 2016 and marked its tenth edition in 2025. Since then it has drawn more than one million visitors and participants and supported more than 10,000 artists.

The exchange runs both ways. The Royal Geographical Society will develop an exhibition inspired by objects in its own collections relating to the Indian subcontinent for the London edition. London's Natural History Museum will present its Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Goa festival in December.

There is more South Asian programming around it. V&A East in Stratford, east London, will stage South Asia Now: Fashion. Art. Design. in spring 2027. The V&A's South Asia Gallery in South Kensington is scheduled to reopen in 2028. The 2027 programme in South Kensington will also include exhibitions on chintz, ceramics and pop culture.

Expect noise and colour. Towering puppets, live percussion and moving sculpture will parade through South Kensington to celebrate South Asian arts, the BBC reported.

For anyone planning a trip, this means one ticket-free stretch of road with museums, concert halls, colleges and outdoor shows in play at once. Full line-ups are still to come.
